The deck was decorated with all materials at hand such as flags ang Christmas garlands. The assembly hall was used for daily rehearsals and fancy dresses making.
Chief sailor Konstantin Popov was cast as Neptune. The performance began immediately after lunch. Neptune and his retinue appeared on the deck.
The Master met Neptune with a lot of gifts according to an old tradition. He thanked Neptune on behalf of the entire crew for fair wind. The God of the seas and oceans ordered the crew and cadets to take some tricky test. Finally, all the participants received the status of true seafarers and certificates of crossing the equator.
